Foundation Level Classes at Scoil Éigse, CCE, offer the chance for young people with an intellectual disability, between the ages of 12 to 18 years to experience the magic of learning and playing Traditional Irish music, create a group song and the experience of performing with their peers attending the Scoil Eigse. Participants are given an opportunities to to learn how to play the tin whistle, accompany Irish traditional tunes using bodhran and tuned percussion and explore other instruments used in Irish trad music (e.g. fiddle). Engagement on these musical porcesses can help build self esteem and confidence in a fun, interactive ways while making new friends and building social interactive skills.
